Translation of Petition to Registrar General of Strughing, dated Dec. 23, 1865.
Chung Jam, Master of the Strughing Licensed Passage Boat "Strughing" presents a Petition, in regard to the unjust seizure and detention of his ship, he begs that dispatches may be sent to Canton so that he may recover it.
Your Petitioner obtained a Licence under proper securities for running a passage boat between Strughing and Cheung Chau, and has always observed regulations. On the 8th instant, however, he set sail from Strughing with a cargo of cotton piece goods, peas and ... , Oh ... he arrived at a place called Chuck Chan Lan, (near Macao) where were some Revenue ships, who called to him to submit to examination.
